History of Renault Clio

The Renault Clio subcompact category was presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1990. The car has an elegant appearance with streamlined features, reliable lighting and good aerodynamic performance. For the comfort of the driver and passengers, there is an adaptive suspension, anti-skid system and even air conditioning — a rarity for cars of the 90s. Under the hood of the Renault Clio, you could see gasoline engines (1.2–1.4) and diesel engines (1.7–1.9).

The popularity of the model pushed the creators to several restylings. For example, in 1993, a limited series of Renault Clio Williams was produced in a sporty spirit, in 1994, the grille and lighting were slightly changed, and in 1996, a facelift took place in the spirit of the times.

The second generation of Renault Clio

The second generation of the French car debuted in 1998. The features of the car have become more rounded, innovative solutions have been added, such as a hood made of lightweight aluminum and internal lighting for storage spaces. You could buy a Renault Clio with 1.2-1.6 liter engines (gasoline) and a two-liter diesel version. In the interior of the car, you can note the instrument panel with extended capabilities and some useful equipment, for example:

• electric power steering wheel;

• pillows for the driver and passengers;

• Isofix for children's seats;

• rain and light sensors;

• automatic operation of headlights;

• navigation system.

The third generation of Renault Clio

2005 was marked by the presentation of the third generation of the cult car. On Renault Clio, the price remained quite affordable, but the technical characteristics were significantly improved for its class. For the first time, the car passed the EuroNCAP test for a solid five, which contributed to the appearance of a wide list of active safety systems. A five-door station wagon with a large trunk and a solid wheelbase was added to the hatchback version.

In the exterior of Renault Clio, you can note a spectacular air intake, LED lights with an original design and solid contours of a sharp shape. The interior attracts with sufficient space for the legs of each passenger and useful "stuffing":

• electric windows;

• adaptive cruise control;

• fog lights as an option;

• modern audio training;

• keyless immobilizer;

• speed limiter.

Renault Clio engines are available in petrol (one and a half liter 86-106 horsepower) and diesel (1.2-1.6 liter, 75 to 110 horsepower) variants. Course stability is provided by a soft MacPherson suspension with transverse stabilizers.

Fourth generation Renault Clio

Since 2012, you can find the new Renault Clio in Kyiv, which belongs to the fourth generation. Versions of the car, as before, remain gasoline and diesel with a maximum power of 75–120 hp. The RS version turned out to be limited, under the hood of which there is a two-liter engine (220 "horses"). Renault Clio features a wide range of equipment: a modern on-board computer with an electronic display, a multimedia system with audio preparation, useful functions such as automatic parking and a rearview camera.

In 2016, a small restyling of the Renault Clio took place. The changes affected the exterior: elongated, lowered body with excellent aerodynamic performance, "squinted" headlights of the main color and massive thresholds. The results of Euro NCAP are again five stars, which allows every Renault Clio passenger not to worry about his safety.
