Features of the model

There are three generations of cars. All of them have a characteristic design, cars of this class are unofficially called "pie" or "ring". They are compact cars with short overhangs, a high roof, swinging doors in the back of the body (or lifting in the passenger version) and sliding doors in the middle, most often there are only one on the right. In all generations, the van is equipped with an extended base, Kangoo Maxi, starting with the second - with a shortened Kangoo Compact with two side doors. Body volume — from 2.5 to 3.9 m3, passenger capacity — from 2 to 8 people.

Despite its utilitarian purpose, from the first generation the car had a number of non-standard technological solutions. So, for example, you could buy a Renault Kengo not only with standard diesel or gasoline engines, but also with electric traction, and in two versions. The first was a classic electric car with a 22 kW motor and nickel-cadmium batteries, and the other was additionally equipped with a gasoline generator for recharging the batteries. Today, the electric version of the Renault Kangoo ZE is the best-selling all-electric light commercial vehicle in Europe.

But the main versions of Renault Kangoo are diesel and gasoline. The engines are similar to those used in other models: the Renault Clio hatchback and the Symbol sedan. Initially, the minimum was a 1.2-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 59 hp, but later it was removed because it could not cope with the loads. Another gasoline diesel engine with a volume of 1.4 liters and a capacity of 75 hp became popular in Europe and Ukraine. Also, very often the car is equipped with diesel engines with a volume of 1.5 and 1.9 liters, which according to their traction characteristics are more suitable for a truck.

Renault Kangoo cars are mostly equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission. A small number of gasoline cars were equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission. On all-wheel drive versions that exist for all generations, a 2-stage "handover" is installed. The carrying capacity of the machine is up to 800 kg.

In some markets, the first generation Renault Kangoo was sold under the Nissan Kubistar brand, the second and third under the Nissan NV200 brand due to partnerships between French and Japanese companies. The joint model of these two concerns with the Germans was very similar technically, but somewhat different in appearance - Mercedes-Benz Citan, which is produced at a Renault subsidiary in the French city of Maubeuge.

How better and safer to buy a Renault Kangoo in Ukraine

In the secondary market, on specialized aggregator sites and platforms with free ads, there are a lot of offers for these popular trucks in our country. However, taking into account the utilitarian nature of their use, the bad situation with the roads, as well as the low maintenance culture, which is mostly reduced to the maximum savings on spare parts and consumables, buying a Renault Kangoo car in the domestic market can be difficult.

In addition, often under the guise of owners, so-called repurchasers are hiding, who resell cars semi-legally and hide their true condition. They differ from official organizations in that they do not provide any guarantees and often do not get in touch immediately after receiving money for the car.

When buying a used Renault Kengo from such dubious persons, you can run into the following problems:

• hidden body defects or serious breakdowns of expensive units;

• twisted mileage, sometimes for several hundred thousand km;

• problems with documents;

• car being in credit databases or even wanted;

• dented or overcooked number plates of the body.

All of this would mean the loss of a large amount of money, or at least time, if the car somehow manages to get back.

An alternative is buying a used Renault Kangoo in Europe. Operating conditions there are better, cars have lower mileage and a transparent service history. But buying a car on your own in a foreign country is not easy. New ones may be added to the above problems:

• language barrier;

• pitfalls of local administration;

• problems with traveling abroad;

• queues at customs points;

• difficulties in calculating customs payments, which may lead to fines;

• problems with car certification.

All this can lead to financial losses or prevent you from buying a car.
