History of the model

Initially, the car received the name Renault Megane Scenic, as technically it was almost completely unified with its "older brother", on the basis of which it was created. Pretty soon, they decided to abandon the second word, because those who wanted to buy the Renault Scenic saw something more in the car than the Megane. The potential of the model was not seen even by the company itself, which considered it niche at the beginning of production and determined a circulation of 450 cars per day. The high purchase rating forced production to increase more than 5 times, to almost 2,500 copies. Only sales of the first generation Renault Scenic totaled 2 million 800 thousand cars, and there were five of them until now.

A feature of Scenic is the presence of "subtypes" of the model. In all generations except the first, there are three of them:

• standard modification for 5 seats;

• Grand Scenic is a seven-seater version with a larger wheelbase and a third row of seats;

• off-road equipment with increased clearance and all-wheel drive, which is usually presented a couple of years after the release of the first two variations, has different names in each generation.

In all generations and modifications, Renault Scenic maintains the main trend: it is a compact, maneuverable and economical, but at the same time roomy and comfortable car, primarily designed for use as a family car. Great attention was paid not only to the design, but also to the ergonomics of the cabin. The car has a lot of glove boxes, drawers and just niches for small luggage, and the seats are easily moved, assuming different combinations of locations.

The car is equipped with relatively small, up to 2 l, gasoline and diesel engines, which at the same time have sufficient power. Gearboxes — both mechanical and automatic. Scenic is distinguished not only by good characteristics, but also excellent safety indicators: almost all generations of the model have always received the highest points from Euro NCAP and other crash test organizations.

On the websites of ads for the sale of cars, you can find many offers of used cars from private individuals, but it is quite difficult to choose good options among them. The reason for this is the bad situation with roads and fuel, the low culture of car maintenance, which consists mostly in maximum savings on spare parts and consumables.

Another problem is people who unofficially earn money by reselling cars, the so-called rebuys. They differ from official and reliable trade organizations in that they do not provide any guarantees. Most often, such persons do not get in touch immediately after receiving the money for the car.

When buying a Renault Scenik, the price or equipment of which may seem attractive, you can get many problems from dubious persons:

• hidden body defects or serious breakdowns of expensive units;

• twisted run;

• problems with documents;

• car being in credit databases or even wanted;

• crossed out body numbers and VIN.

All this can lead to a significant loss of money and time.

As an alternative, you can consider the option of buying a used Renault Scenic in Europe. The advantages of this option are that in European conditions, cars are stored better, often have a transparent service history and lower mileage. The disadvantages are that it is quite difficult to buy a car on your own in another country. In addition to most of the above, it threatens with new problems:

• ignorance of the language;

• pitfalls of local administration;

• problems with departure;

• queues at the border;

• difficulties in calculating customs payments;

• problems with car certification.

All this can lead to financial losses or prevent you from buying a car.
